Designing A Dynamic Logo

Bold, catchy, memorable, instantly recognisable were some of the aspects in the brief for the Alexander Bone AKA ‘Boney’ Logo Design. But what really came across in the brief was that the logo must be versatile. With merchandise such as T-Shirts, posters and album covers in mind this would need to be a dynamic logo design that, while still being recognisable in all formats, could be used for a large range of products.

A Clear Brief

Fortunately for me Alexander was able to provide a detailed and perfectly understandable brief. One of the worst things a designer can get is unclear and unhelpful instructions as seen in this article the 7 sins to be avoided when working with a designer. I was given a sketch of his idea and some reference images of logo designs and visual imagery that he liked. This all goes to helping form an image of what the client really wants.

With the briefs points in mind the next step involved sketching and drawing some concepts for client feedback. You can see some of the steps Dark Design Graphics takes when designing a logo in our recent article how to design a logo. With the idea of a dynamic logo in mind I created a decent amount of variations. This included changing the colours, textures and backgrounds of the design. I also created three different actual concepts that would work together and still be recognisable as the same Brand.
